Welcome

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your child to Our Lady and Saint Benedict Catholic Academy, which is part of the Newman Catholic Collegiate which is comprised of 9 schools. Choosing your child’s school is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. The school website aims to provide a view of the school as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community. It informs you about our vision, values and ethos, curriculum standards and provision, including the wide range and high quality opportunities available to every child at Our Lady and Saint Benedict Catholic Academy. (OLSB)

Our Lady and Saint Benedict Catholic Academy is an inclusive and nurturing school where all are welcome. Together we Love, Learn and Look forward with Christ. The children are at the heart of everything that we do, and each member of staff is fully committed to ensuring that every child feels loved, safe, happy, secure and ready to learn. Children are given the opportunity to realise their full potential and become closer to understanding their vocation. We recognise all pupils as individuals and ensure that all needs are considered in all aspects of provision.

We pride ourselves on our excellent relationships with all members of our school community and we believe that pupils achieve their very best when school and homework together in partnership. At Our Lady and Saint Benedict Catholic Academy we have a dedicated pastoral team comprising of a safeguarding team who work with families and parents to provide an excellent service for parents and children - ensuring that children come to school regularly, needs are identified and met and that they are able to access their learning when they are with us.

As a Catholic school our fundamental mission is to promote the Gospel values and virtues within our school community in which every person is respected as an individual, made in the image of Christ. Our school mission statement Loving, learning and looking forward with Christ encompasses everything that we do. Children learn to live out the Gospel values and this can be seen each and every day in children’s work and play. Children show respect and care for all through their words, actions and thoughts.

Through an extensive curriculum which builds upon knowledge and skills, children learn and remember more. This learning is enhanced by a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs. Our collegiate links enable the children to benefit from specialist teachers in Music, PE, modern foreign languages and across a range of other subject areas. We have lots of outdoor space for children to play and learn. This includes our wonderful purpose built play area for our Early Years Children, our school in the forest which enables children to take part in outdoor learning led by specialist leaders alongside class teachers and our extensive fields.

Children are Encouraged to act as ambassadors for the school now and for their future place within God’s world.

Our school is a proud member of the Newman Catholic Collegiate. Staff and children at all of these schools have the opportunity to work and grow together.

‘Let them prefer nothing whatever to Christ.  And may He bring us all together to everlasting life.’
