Reading
Here at OLSB children in Y3-Y6 have a daily taught reading lesson. Alongside this children are assessed and levelled in their reading. They are then able to choose books from a wide selection of children's authors, interests and genres from the classroom reading area that meet their reading ability. Each class has their own reading area in their classroom.
Every class has daily timetabled storytime and 'book club' time once a week, where children can share books, discuss authors, make recommendations and reviews and discuss similar themes and genres. This further develops a love of reading for pleasure. Reading for pleasure books are chosen from the top 100 reads to ensure progression.
